The Hornet

The hornet is the largest European Vespide. The term is often mistakenly identified the bumblebee carpenter bee and the bee land. Tuscany is known by the nickname ammazzacavalli, because it seems that the bite of a number of insects can kill even a horse.
The adult is glabrous, which is reddish brown with yellow spots and stripes.
The female can reach up to 5cm Length, while the male workers and measure 2-2,5 cm.
The female has a sting, whose bites are very annoying, sometimes fatal, for human.
